Art Salas
Art began his career at Rafn as an apprentice carpenter in 1999. His path so far includes four years of apprenticeship and nine years as a journeyman carpenter before stepping into the shoes of Project Engineer in 2012, Assistant Superintendent in 2021, and Superintendent in 2024.
With a carpentry background, Art knows construction terminology, but more importantly he knows how things go together. Art can visualize how a building is constructed and help communicate what we are working on to the owner and the architect. In addition to his current skills, Art is adding training in systems and processes for communication and formal data transfer. His goal is to integrate more technology and communication in the projects he works on. He is using electronic documents and markup tools to facilitate the Request for Information (RFI) process and the as-built process. As a project is being constructed, he tracks and notes all changes on the drawings. At the end he is able to hand the owner a digital copy of the as-built drawings that their staff can easily use to maintain the building.
