Rafn Company performed a complete 25,700 square foot restoration and structural upgrade of this facility for Banana Republic’s northwest flagship store.
The scope of services included major seismic reinforcement, structural additions, and a full exterior restoration. Work required thorough investigation of structural systems combined with careful planning and sequencing of construction events.

The shoring and layout of the large window opening at the main corner was a complex puzzle for the project team. Our team developed a plan and used computer aided drafting for the complicated layout. Restoring and ensuring the quality of the terracotta and historic exterior cladding was important to the final quality.
Designed by B. Marcus Priteca the building opened in 1916 as Seattle’s first theater built specifically for showing movies. It It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and is also a City of Seattle landmark.
