Security House Apartments Reclad

Rafn completed an overcladding project of the West and South elevations of Security House, a 14 story senior apartment building, with 128 fully occupied units.

The scope of work included installing a tube steel, hat channel exterior framework to hold a new siding and waterproofing system. Work also involved completely removing, disassembling, cleaning and reinstalling the existing floor to ceiling windows of the apartments. Removal allowed for the installation of custom fabricated high temperature soldered head, sill, and jamb “pans” which were individually measured, constructed, and fitted to every opening. These elements are now a permanent part of the exteriors overall look, unlike most waterproofing elements which are entirely covered by cladding.

The Rafn Company self performed all the structural metal installation, shop drawings and design associated with the complicated powder coated “pan” system, all glazing work activities, and metal siding installation.
