RAFN Company builds green. We recognize that the earth's natural resources have been severely degraded over the
past 150 years. Construction practices that once made sense are now recognized as contributing to environmental and social
degradation.
RAFN Company is committed to searching out environmentally responsible methods and materials and implementing
them in our building projects. Since the early 1990s we have been active in jobsite recycling, salvaging, and building energy
efficient multi-family housing. Recycling and energy efficient buildings are now standard practices for the RAFN Company throughout
our projects in the Northwest.
RAFN has solid LEED experience. We were the general contractor for the Puget Sound Environmental Learning Center
(now called IslandWood) which was awarded one of the first LEED™ Gold ratings by the US Green Building Council. Additionally,
Rafn built Traugott Terrace, the first multi-family LEED certified project. RAFN has also completed work on Blakely Hall.
Blakely Hall is a community center in the Issaquah Highlands which is LEED Silver certified.
RAFN Company has been involved in over 25 Built Smart projects since 1992 and is currently working on Denny
Park-one of the region's first Built Green multi-family housing projects.
Sustainable building represents a long-term goal and a commitment. We are continually learning new and better ways to build with less
impact to the environment and society and intend to champion this responsible process.
