The Morrow is a new, ground-up, mixed-use, apartment building with 141 market-rate housing units over retail space. Built on peat in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle, this building has an auger cast pile and grade beam matrix foundation system. Designed by Baylis Architects the Morrow features spacious amenities, luxury finishes, and a convenient location. STOP 1 : Building Exterior from Palatine Avenue
The building’s main frontage is on Palatine Avenue with the retail frontage around the corner fronting Morrow Lane, a thru-block connector. The Palatine side has the main building entry with a boulder landscape feature (click the pin for its origin story), parking garage exit (entrance off of the alley in back), and 4 townhouse units. Across the street from the townhouse end of the building is the Rafn project office trailer where all of the project management magic happened. Across the street from the retail end of the building is The Sedges at Piper Village, a past Rafn project.
STOP 2 : Main Building Lobby
Entering the building from the sidewalk takes you under a very classy-looking overhang roof with a wood soffit into the main lobby, elevators, and mail area. There are many places to sit and chat as well as an Internet Lounge area off to the side. There is also access to the parking garage which has electric car charging stations and a bicycle room.
STOP 3 : Second-Floor Lounge
Taking the stairs up to the second floor leads us to the building’s leasing office and another amenity area. The second-floor lounge has a cozy fireplace, multiple seating areas, large screen tv, and a community kitchen.
STOP 4 : Studio Residential Unit
Opening the door to one of the new studio apartment units and the spacious layout belies its compact square footage. With a full bathroom and dark kitchen cabinets with a full-height subway tile backsplash, each studio has a luxurious feel. Add in vinyl plank flooring, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and floor-to-ceiling windows for maximum daylight and each resident has a beautiful space to call home.
STOP 5 : Third Floor Lounge
The Lounge on the third floor is the place to go for game night. Bring your cards for poker, challenge your neighbor to foosball, or just sit and watch the game. If you need fresh air, just head out to the courtyard and soak up some Seattle sun or have your lunch al fresco.
STOP 6 : One Bedroom Residential Unit
Similar in look and feel to the studio unit before, the one-bedroom units will give residents a little more elbow room. Eight-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows add to the spacious feel of the units while modern conveniences like an eating bar in the kitchens, dishwashers, washer/dryer units, and A/C ports make living here a breeze. Some units even have semi-private balconies/patios for a little extra room to recharge.
STOP 7 : Sky Lounge Rooftop Amenity Space
At the top of the building at the Southwest corner is the Sky Lounge with an outdoor fireplace, a bar-be-que, and lounge chair seating. Festive string lighting, flowers and grasses in the planter beds, and 360-degree views of downtown and the mountains complete this oasis above the neighborhood.
